readySET @ JSJ, modeled by Zu

Despite all 4 inches of the paralyzing snow, I took a lunch-time outing yesterday to the JohnSarahJohn pop-up shop with the esteemed mycologist + gastronome Ms. Zu P. In the photos that follow, Zu is modeling a set of cowls and scarves that I made especially for JSJ this holiday season, using bolts of deadstock vintage silk suit-lining fabric.

I also made a set of my woolen cowls for JSJ in colors inspired by men’s suiting and a trio of clutch purses, using a vintage indigo-dyed silk kimono and wool flannel in shades of camel, grey, and charcoal…they’re rather subdued on the outside and bright ORANGE on the inside.

The JohnSarahJohn pop-up holiday gift gallery is open Thursdays through Sundays, noon-9pm, through December 24th.

Also managed to pop in the mail yesterday, x-mas stockings for the nephews:

Took a little field trip to the Bridge this afternoon with the lovely Sonia B, on a mission to document… Behold the fruits of our labor!

Oh, and Sonia wants everyone to know that wearing a cashmere cowl is an incredibly soft and cozy experience…”like being enveloped in BUTTER.”

The Bridge Great Gifts Holiday Shop is open M-F 12-8pm, Sa-Sun 12-6pm and is located at 209 Monticello Road, Charlottesville, VA, 22902.

readySET at the Bridge Great Gifts Holiday Shop

Long live the handmade! Don’t miss the opening reception for the Bridge‘s Great Gifts Holiday Shop, tonight: Friday, December 3rd, 5-9pm. Over 30 local artists/artisans/crafters will be offering their handmade and vintage wares through December 23rd.  30% of the proceeds will contribute to the Bridge’s ongoing programming.

After tonight, the shop will be open weekdays noon-8pm and weekends noon-6pm. They’ll also be selling gift certificates and the shop will continue through the month of Janurary during normal gallery hours (Dec. 27-Jan 29, noon-3pm, Wed-Sat, or by appointment).

They’re still looking for volunteers to staff the shop…in exchange for your services you’ll receive a 30% discount on items in the shop. If you’re interested in lending some time, contact charlottesville.all.stars@gmail.com.

I’ll be selling a wide selection of my hand-made wares:

+ woolen/cashmere cowls to envelope your neck

+ clutch purses fashioned from wool trousers and kimono silks

+ zoomorphic woolen/cashmere hats for your little ones

+ totes crafted from vintage bed linens

+ knitted and felted woolen helmets to warm your precious skull
